Once I read US Army Lt.Col. L'Heureux's statement the Russians "were physically tracking to geolocate me" (through his unprotected smartphone) my blood ran cold. I knew Russian targeteers could put guided munitions on his position using those coordinates; just like I did as a USAF targets intel officer on the enemies of our country. I also knew SFOR has exactly what he and his soldiers need to prevent this from happening. EUCOM is my old unit. I felt compelled to engage on this issue once again because the Colonel's interview underscored just how much the cyber situation had deteriorated for NATO in Eastern Europe since I last wrote. I felt our Senators needed to be updated as to the gravity of it because not all are on the intel or armed services committies. The bottom line is, you're right; at this point it's about saving lives!
