Cannabis-focused financial services company Medical Cannabis Payment Solutions (OTC: REFG) this morning announced plans to begin processing payments in bitcoin. Per the update, this development goes beyond the current version of the company’s merchant app, which is available to state-licensed marijuana establishments. “The payment system will offer a unique Bitcoin payment option enabling consumers to easily use the digital currency to make purchases,” Sean Hullinger, chief legal officer of Medical Cannabis Payment Solutions, stated in the news release. “This process allows stores to accept not only electronic payments in US dollars, but also digital currency (instead of cash only). We are working hard and intend to rapidly become Bitcoin-acceptable in transactions.”
