This generation seems to have lost the ability to reason and to believe

simple example- what are the astronomical determinants of weather associated with winter:
1)short daylight hours
2)cold days-resulting from #1

the winter equinox is the shortest day of the year- logically that infers the middle of winter-not 1st day of such
so since the vast majority of the earths surface heat comes from the sun, the shortest day logically, except for a couple of minor influences,is the middle of winter
so on average the coldest day of the year comes very near dec 21

smarter meteorologists call dec jan feb winter
nobody would call early nov winter and yet in most locales the average temp in early nov is the same as mar 20,which most call winter

imo true winter is the coldest 3 months of the year if seasons are arbitrarily determined to be 3 months each

btw, since the great majority of the earths landmass is in the n hemisphere,by design dec 21 is the earths closest approach to the sun-( thus the large supermoon we are now seeing) by design this is one of many methods which moderate seasonal differences to make life possible for advanced life
thus solar days in the n are the longest at such perigee- 24 hrs 30 seconds, which is why the afternoons start lengthening before dec 21 while the mornings dont lengthen til ca jan 1-took me decades to hear a reason from anybody for that
