Was in my teens when that THALIDOMIDE story broke. Forget which magazine covered the story with a lot of pictures ( TIME maybe ) of those children affected. TRULY was a terrible horror story. Took them some time to narrow down the cause back to thalidomide so even more kids were born missing limbs. The drug itself worked quite well for the purpose intended. Which was to relieve depression for bored house wives, so it got widely prescribed.If you do the math those affected are now in their 50s . No follow up on them has been made that I know of. Think it got overshadowed by the casualty reports of the Vietnam war.
