I fully agree with the basis for this post but you just can't assume that the placebo dropouts were all because of the OM. I think it is very likely that SOM could have caused many (if not most and yes POSSIBLY all) of the dropouts but other types of complications with the cancer or the patient's life could also have occurred. The flip side of that coin is that any dropout from the treatment group could POSSIBLY have been showing marked improvement but other health/life complications caused them to drop out as well. HNC patients are generally very sick and their situation is labile. The deeper data analysis should clarify this to some degree for those involved behind the scenes.
For those people that love to highlight the share price fluctuations (mostly the drops) and claim that "the market knows", be thankful that the market doesn't know. If it did, there would never be any large gains or losses since the market would "know" ahead of time. The "market" knows nothing, it reacts. That's why large gains and losses occur. Any details available to those behind the scenes at IPIX and any potential suitor company (or any companies negotiating a deal anywhere) are simply not known to most of the public until finalized. In a double blind study, even those that are directly involved with administration of the trial are not supposed to be able to glean information from results. I'm not a professional investor and I've seen enough massive gains and losses come out of left field and surprise "the market" to know that you either believe or you don't, you are in or you are out. Good luck, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.
