Re: Drano #39982
Exactly why we're VERY likely to get a decent partnership. Far less exciting and by far much worse oncol drugs have made it to market.

Just waiting for full data.

Quote:
All the other clinical trials and studies have shown oral mucositis rates between 75-100% for head and neck cancer patients.

The 60% rate shown in the placebo group in this study is very, very strange. It makes me wonder if there was a problem at some of the test sites with mixing up the rinses (giving Bril patients placebo, and placebo patients Bril) or if there was a mistake in identifying which patients got placebo. To have a 20% lower rate of OM than any other study is just too much to be random chance.

So, let's use the lowest typical figure -- 75%. If you don't use the Brilacidin oral rinse, you have a 75% chance of getting debilitating symptoms.
If you DO use the rinse, you have 37.6% chance -- less than half the risk.
Stated another way, if you don't use the rinse, you have a 3 out of 4 chance of getting it. If you do use the rinse, you have about a 1 in 3 chance of getting it.

I can't imagine anyone saying "I'll take my chances." Would you?
