Yes, there's still data to be gleaned from the so-called Level 2. You just can't trust it totally, but it still gives you a snapshot of what the market makers WANT YOU TO SEE.
Just be careful and don't trust it. On many occasions I have seen certain numbers of shares on the bid and on the ask. There are all kinds of trades around those levels, and yet those numbers of shares remain the same. The market makers are presenting a picture that they are using to try to manipulated the small traders. Still, it's useful to see what they want us to think is reality.
