Re: Bhawks #6130
Was Lincoln a "follower" of Karl Marx?

I'm going to say yes he was a "follower" of Marx and probably read an opinion piece by Marx twice a week. During the time of the Civil War, Horace Greeley, the editor of The New York Tribune, was paying Marx to write two articles a week for the princely sum of five bucks per. Over a period of years Marx wrote around 350 articles for the Tribune and although there is no evidence that Lincoln ever even read the first word penned by Marx, considering the paper was in the White House every day and considering the massive intellect that Lincoln was, it seems to me that curiosity would have compelled him to read Marx at least every now and then.

The above info is from "LINCOLN IN THE WORLD" by Kevin Peraino and taken from the chapter "Lincoln vs. Marx ppg. 170 to 224.

My guess is that Lincoln would first read the comics, then the bridge column, and then would spend some time with the sudookie puzzle before reading Marx and other squat.
