We know that Dr. Reddy's lab came up with a cheaper and faster way to synthesize Prurisol. We think that's what the patent application is all about, that was posted here recently.
These drugs are not expensive to synthesize. It's the biologics that are very pricey to make, also those custom cancer-fighting "vaccines" that are made for each patient individually. But Bril and Prurisol should not be expensive to make in large quantities.
As far as pricing, that's going to be up to how rapacious the drug company is. Just look at how asthma inhalers that used to be available for $8 as generics, now cost at least $54 because no one makes generics any more. They'd rather jack up the price on an inexpensive life-saving medication that many children need, and make a huge profit.
