You'd have to compare it to the previous one for differences. It was filed a few days before releasing top line data for the phase 2a trial. I haven't compared them but I would guess it's not a bad thing for them to be shoring up the patents. I don't think it means anything as this one was filed over a year and a half ago.
Perhaps there was a tweak in the patent that changes it enough to extend the patent protection? We did lose a lot of years between the first patent and now. If the drug works well, every extra year of patent adds value at the negotiating table.
