I always thought they should have had one P1 going for Kevetrin just as they ran it, slow and thorough.
I also thought they should have had another one that took volunteers, knowing they had only weeks to live, to start at drastically higher doses. If it killed them, start another trial right away at a slightly lower level and work down til it didn't kill them. All they had to lose was a few weeks of life and in all likelihood it was a life that had no "quality" to it and they were happy to get to the better place a little earlier. I always described it as sacrificing a patrol to save a battalion or a regiment. There would have been plenty of volunteers and we would have gained a lot of information much, much quicker.
Just a different outlook on where I feel the FDA does a good job and where I feel the medical community is completely out of touch.
Please don't anyone give me any talk about the supreme value of life. Wtih terminal cancer, as all other terminal conditions, there is no value left and death is a much better option IMO than living in hellish conditions. I put Alzheimer's in this category. If I get Alz... and it is not allowable to end my life legally, then I would take a pistol as opposed to living a life like a zombie.
