Roger, been in a Sears lately? OMG, empty shelves and hooks all over the place, no TV's etc for sale anymore, looks like BK is imminent. I douibe they have more than 40% normal stock for sale. Sad, I shopped there my entire life. I got into retail in 1969 and they were the top chain revenue wise. Now combined with K mart, I doubt they are even close to the top ten.

1969 top 5
1. Sears
2. Montgomery Ward -gone
3. JC Penny
4. SS Kreske(K mart)
5. Woolworth( gone) , my mistake working for them for 9 years.

Looked it up, Sears is 23rd, at least at the time of the article

JC Penny, 3rd in 1969 is now 37th, OMG

I don't think they threw food in the list in 1969, but they do carry a lot of general merchandise these days.
