A lot of the buying pressure earlier this year on BTC has come from hackers blackmailing companies and demanding payment in BTC. That rise has drawn a lot of interest and clearly new buyers have stepped in, but I really have to wonder what's going to sustain buying like this. Economic woes in a decent sized, developed country could do it, not sure which would fit the bill.
