While I think Jan tries very hard to make things best for his company, he is not a farmer but rather a developer. Mistakes were made during the first growing season and harvest. Supposedly his experts were also learning on the job and some of the stuff could have been avoided. Tilling the soil properly, choosing the right pepper variety, putting cloth liner around the plants to keep wind out and moisture in all seem like something that should be known already to farmers in the area. Damaging picked crops by stacking crates improperly seems like a no brainer if the experienced picking team had done this before.

Let's see if he learns from his mistakes of borrowing at loan shark rates. In the future he may want to consider selling established farms instead of playing Russian roulette with the costs and surprises of a growing season.
