The people of Puerto Rico are American Citizens. Any other "State" would have gotten full support in this terrible crisis. But these citizens do not have a vote! It is a territory not a state. Therefore, if they do not have a vote, they have no bargaining power. The political powers that be don't feel compelled to help those who can't return the favor.
Most all the people of Puerto Rico have demonstrated their willingness be become a state but they have no power, no say.
Who does,you ask?
Congress.
And Congress will not grant statehood because they are fighting over the ramifications of the "Electoral College" if another State is added.
What a Shocker!
Millions of Americans are denied their rights and well being because of Congress.
