If you dont mind sharing, was there a link to the SFOR website in the email? And did you have to erase the old license in order to install the new license? And anything else you can share?
The reason why I'm asking is that I drove to SFOR office and I met with Mark Kay and two software engineers in early spring 2017 about a few issues that needed attention.
1) I had 2 licenses purchased in March 2016 and my license expired when my keyboard didnt exist any more then I received an email the day after with no link. Not good. So i'm thrilled tha they notified you 1week prior to expiration.
2) Then installing the new license was more cumbersome than necessary. The flow wasnt as seamless as it should have been. I told the SFOR people that customers dont want a lapse in their protection because if there is a keylogger on the device the customer is vulnerable (also can be used as a selling point, renew prior to lapse).
There were a few other points I brought to their attention that needed to be addressed. My concern was customer retension and being able to maintain a good churn rate.
