Sorry if I may have overreacted to your friends post. To answer your question, based on my experience with QMC and Squires and Ando-san, there is a plan. Squires developed the QMA deal over two years and we got great terms. I believe the Chinese are considered pretty good negotiators and yet this was also a collaborative agreement.
Squires has developed a pattern I see in the PRs. First, funded development. Second, let companies confirm the results. This gives him options. Third, press for the best deal, one that is aligned with QMCS long-term goals. He seems willing to wait until he gets that kind of commitment because he won't have to deal with many, only a few, and it frees him to tackle the next industry. QMC can ramp production to serve the entire display industry, for example. So why not make that the goal one time rather than bit by bit going through the same exercise?
Most have a short-term attitude. If you are an investor in this company you have to look with a long-term view. Kroc, Gates and Jobs all had a long-term view. In retrospect we can see what their plan was and how they executed it. I got on board after reading his 2009 article, Quantum Dots, Future Energy Solution because I saw his knowledge, reasoning and really, a world view. So there you have all my reasons for being willing to wait for it.
