Obviously those who have not gone "long" still have a substantial stake involved to keep the SP trapped where it is.
They however are trapped as well.They know the dam will burst in the not too distant future and their current situation is not sustainable.
They can also see that this game they're playing now is getting them nowhere.

Something (or someone) is going to have break soon or "they" are all going to go down together.
