Frank, here's some inside baseball facts.
Abbott makes wonderful diabetes testing products, except for Roche, perhaps the best products on the market. But Abbott remains #4 in the industry. Why? Because Abbott is uniformly disliked. They are disliked by their diabetic users who rate Abbott customer service very low. Abbott is disliked by their distributors because they routinely fire them often making up causes. Abbott is disliked by the retail market because Abbott creates artificial shortages, shorting demand up to 5%.
An alternative product directed toward Abbott products will be very successful.
