I suspect that doctors don't talk about this much because they know it might scare some people off from accepting treatment, if they know the magnitude of the bad side effects. Everyone knows about vomiting and hair loss and fatigue, but I've never seen THIS depicted in the many movies and TV shows that have characters who have cancer.
