unless it was odd lot share clean up .... which is an election you perform with a broker... if you have 1 share left due to a bad ask/fill scenario - e.g. You offer to sell 10k shares and and 9,999 get swallowed, and you are left with one share...then perform the odd lot process. It essentially sells the share to you broker with no fees....
