Have you never mashed up a pill in food for a cat or dog? Admittedly an 800-pound gorilla would need lots of pills, but then, they also need lots of food.
Obviously humans should benefit from IPIX drugs first, but it's a lot easier to get approval for veterinary drugs, and when you have an endangered species, well, it's too bad we didn't know about this in time.
Does anyone know -- is there anything that's the equivalent of "compassionate use" for animals? In other words, in a last-ditch situation like this, could we have given the gorilla some Kevetrin and said it was an "animal trial"? I know this sounds silly, but think of the publicity that IPIX would have gotten.....
