TelVue Joins Open-Source Streaming Alliance
Aug 16, 2017
TelVue, provider of video broadcast and hosted streaming services, has joined the “Secure Reliable Transport” SRT Alliance, an open-source initiative dedicated to overcoming the challenges of low latency video transport across the Internet. The SRT Alliance was launched with great fanfare at the 2017 NAB Show by founding members, Haivision and Wowza.
Jesse Lerman, President and CEO of TelVue Corporation, is excited about the potential benefits of this collaboration for TelVue customers: “The kind of industry-wide solution that the SRT Alliance is working toward is a win-win situation for our clients, given the likelihood of lowering costs and raising the reliability and security of IP backhaul across both Local Area Networks and the public Internet. We look forward to the possibilities of incorporating these solutions into the TelVue series of broadcast products and cloud services.”
The SRT Alliance intends to develop and deploy open source software that provides reliable UDP IP video streaming across the public Internet. The goal of the SRT Alliance, in the words of its founders, is to accelerate “the interoperability of video streaming solutions and fostering collaboration with industry leaders to achieve lower latency Internet video transport. The SRT Alliance promotes the industry-wide recognition and adoption of SRT as the de facto standard for low latency Internet streaming.”
