I posted a while back that an electroluminescent blue QD film could be the backplane instead of on-chip blue QD diodes, saving many steps in making a display and giving higher brightness. The blue would stimulate the red and green luminescence photoelectricly for red,green,blue color. This also solves some microled manufacturing problems.
