Another thought: Are patients warned about Oral Mucositis when they get chemo and radiation, or is it a "possible side effect" that is mentioned in passing so that the patients won't be scared off by knowing the horrors they might be experiencing?
If there is an effective preventative/treatment for it like Brilacidin-OM, I bet that doctors will be more forthcoming in discussing this awful condition with patients.
There is ALWAYS a problem of patient compliance with dosing regimens for any drug. I think if people understand the magnitude of the problem they might encounter, they would be be very careful to follow this regimen.
Sometimes older patients decide whether to undergo chemo/radiation, or whether to let nature take its course. I think that there might be some people who previously might have decided they didn't want to undergo these treatments, who might decide to go ahead and fight the disease if they have Bril-OM to stave off this debilitating side effect.
