BTC will continue to be dogged by the blockchain that powers btc. This latest civil war over wanting to double their transaction speed from 7 transactions a minute to 14 is going to get worse. BTC has no real use case other than store of value. no one is accepting btc for payments, and no one is willing to part with them because it goes up. Im not saying BTC will implode, but it will get weaker and weaker.
Ripple XRP at the moment is certainly tied to BTC"s hip because it needs BTC money. However, that relationship is very temporary. Ripple has distanced themselves from BTC, ETH, and the others from the onset. They had to to get traction with the FIs. Now as the traction is gaining, look for a complete separation from ALTS. The SEC Inquitlry and position on ICOs is a good example. Interestingly, none of the recent articles covering the ICO "scam" mentioned Ripple or XRP. they even went to Garlinghouse for his expert opinion.
current prices are all hype including BTC and Eth. What we will see very shortly is XRP going live. When this happens, im sure with all the pomp and circumstance, XRP's real value with go up "massively." "massively" is a word David Schwartz (chief cryptographer for Ripple) has used several times in his postings. He is a C++ Technical person. They dont know how to pump. You can read his style, very technical and matter of fact. what that "massive means is what risk/reward is all about. Its any one's guess.
what i believe is once this goes live we will no longer be considered an ALT coin, but mainstream. Remember, XRP was created for INSTITUTIONAL USE.
* All my opinion. i could be wrong, do your own dd...
