dw, I would guess that internal combustion engines will get far more efficient as well for cost cutting.? I know two people who had electric cars. Neither have it now and will never buy another. We'll see. The powers that be seem to want them. A lot of energy is wasted just to ship power over the main lines, then to your house.
But I do feel that "The powers that be" are ruining the planet and using up irreplaceable natural resources". And others of those powerful are poisoning the planted with pesticides, fertilizers and other chemicals. And now a new kid on the block is poisoning the air with electromagnetic radiation. I am all for conservation.
"An electric auto will convert 5-10% of the energy in natural gas into motion. A normal vehicle will convert 20-30% of the energy in gasoline into motion. That's 3 or 4 times more energy recovered with an internal combustion vehicle than an electric vehicle".
