Re: Puravida19 #6801
They are in the Prove Out phase. And do not expect that to go fast. QMC was just able to make dots that were capable of fullfilling all of the OEM parameters last December.
Now the OEM will demand they have to go through numerous trials with product to prove that the dots as well as the film and color filters that are used hold up and do not degrade, etc.
They must stand the test of time with lots rigorous testing.
They have to prove their quality control and consistency in production. (That is Nanoco's problem.... they are not successful at this)
There are things manufacturers will likely try to do that the may influence and improve the overall production in the overall manufacturing of displays. Fine tune the tricks.
If you read the last quarterly letter of SS, he spoke of these things that QMC is doing along these lines with their part.
It was reported in May that QMC is shipping larger quanties of samples for these trials..... a very very good sign.
This Prove Out stage does not happen quickly. If they could get through this so that an OEM is willing to move forward in manufacturing saleable products by the end of the year, that would very outstanding progress.
