I can tell you that drinking is a vital part of the work landscape. As a non-drinker, I either had to offend the Koreans I was with and not drink or go along with the drinking rituals and fit in.
And their popular drink, Soju, gives the worst hangovers! And they slam those shots non-stop!
Being sloppy drunk and then hungover the next day, as others have written, are a sign you are a team player. It doesn't have the stigma like it does in the West.
So, I can see $HJOE kicking ass in South Korea, Japan, and a lesser extent China!
