How do you know for sure that most of the volume were wash trades and longs are not selling?
People (including longs) sell for various reasons. I rebalance my porfolio regularly. I know longs who have sold some IPIX shares to make a quick trade in other stocks, then bought back later. Then you have traders who are flipping for pennies. All are legal trades.
