I think that the FDA blackbox warning for quinolones would discourage a pharma from trying to get it through approval here. When you look at the huge settlements drug companies have been paying to people hurt by Cipro, Avelox, and Levaquin -- why would some company want to spend millions getting approval, knowing that they'd be facing lawsuits down the road?
As we all know, there's a huge need for Brilacidin-ABSSSI. And if the basher/short conspiracy hadn't knocked the stock price down, it would have been a lot easier for the company to raise the 30 million needed for the Phase 3 clinical trial.
I applaud the company for deciding to go ahead rapidly with the inexpensive clinical trials for other Bril uses, and wait for a partnership to proceed with Bril-ABSSSI
