Just to address another big diaper filled with BS posted elsewhere:

It will be great if the super-powered version of Vancomycin finally gets approved in a couple of years. It's good for the world to have more than one antibiotic that works on a bad disease.

But there is a bigger need for a drug like Brilacidin that has few side effects (many fewer than vancomycin), which has a novel mechanism of action which makes it unlikely that bacteria can develop resistance, and, very importantly:

that no one is allergic to yet.

LOTS of people have allergies to various families of antibiotics. Lots of people can't take Vancomycin because of an allergy.

If you have antibiotic allergies, as I do, you will be very, very grateful if there is more than one antibiotic available for a bad disease.

Think about this, jerk bashers: what if you or a member of your family needs a strong antibiotic for a terrible disease, and the only one available is one that you (or they) are allergic to? What then?

Is it going to make you proud that you helped delay Brilacidin's approval, so that you could make a few dollars? Beware karma.
