If their was a HUGE MM short they could have hired bashers to trash the stock and deliberately try to force the company into BK. Therefore they would never have to repay or cover their HUGE short position and it could still exist today.
Just a theory/speculation but would be wise for the company to request a new CUISP# to force any naked shorts to cover IMO.
