You are confusing the capabilities of the BNP with those of the N-Assay.
The BNP ONLY provides fast evidence of live cells through manifestations of Micro colonies. It doesn't identify what those are, only indicates something's growing. Read the Battelle paper on TB. It clearly states the BNP potential and it was not to replace PCR in the process, but to enhance it.
People need to get a grip and stop confusing technologies.
