It takes months to complete the discovery of all the sales of all the infringing products. Once they have determined the sales numbers for the infringing products, they can determine the royalties from past sales, determine the amount that triple damages will be, the amount of ongoing licensing of the products using their technologies and thus they can arrive at a settlement number. It is good to know that they have a settlement number for all seven of the currently sued infringers.
