In addition to lab tests that are a combination of both culture and PCR based for sepsis and MRSA, we use physical attributes for determination of presence of either. Samples are sent out. Check with Quest for their times if they'll reveal them to you. It is normally days to results. Our patients are frequently in-house ICU and they're treated with IV antibiotics. I'm in the ER usually so I see the results of neglect of wounds and numerous advanced states of infection prior to admission.
