I totally agree, AYW--was just thinking about posting very similar thoughts.
I've been on this board (and an OTC investor) now since November (about 6 months now). I see two groups of guys here, each distinguished by the question that is topmost in their minds. One group, I'll call them the "When?" group, are primarily concerned with *when* the stock will go up 'higher'. The other group, I'll call us the "How Much?" group, are primarily concerned with *how much* the stock will go up, or in other words, what will the company end up being worth. The first group, the Whens, aren't concerned with "How Much?", they just think "up" to some higher, but unknown value. The second group, the How Muchs, aren't as concerned with "When?", just how much the company will actually be worth at a given point in time in the future. In my opinion, the Whens are inexperienced investors and the How Muchs are experienced investors. We're all long and will be rewarded eventually, but the Whens--based on my own decades of investing experience--are going to suffer psychologically if not financially by selling in the short term, before the big returns come. And the big returns *are* coming.
So, Whens, take it from an old investor: fire and forget. Think long term. Think in years, not in days or months. Only invest what you can afford to "lose". I promise you, the "How Much" is sooo much more rewarding than the "When". It's where the money is.
I bought AMZN in 1999. Up until about 2005, I was significantly underwater (like 50% down, most of those 5 years). I never sold. Now I'm up around 2,000%. That's how the stock market works. Time in the market is more valuable than timing the market.
