Going that way will surely avoid the NYC rush hr traffic.After ferry take 95N to 91N to 84W. Will take you to Newburgh & Stewart Airport. Don't know time.
If coming from Long Island you can use this route to bypass Thruway tolls, Tappen Zee Bridge construction. Take Throgs Neck Br to I 95 N( New England) to 287W (about 3-4 miles ) to I 684 W to I 84 W. This usually has the least amount of traffic in the AM.
