I'm not 'missing' anything. Your typically righty, apocalyptic, conspiracy theory fueled imagination has gotten the best of you, again.
IMO it's a 'squeeze play' by China and by the U.S. to let Kim know that both sides expect the worst, and that Kim has no real friends in the game.
Why? The moves by both China and the U.S. come after the meeting in Mar-a-Lago.
Maybe the Chinese have told Kim that Trump is as bat-shit-crazy as he is. He'd would be right in that message.
