What we are seeing now in 2017 reminds me of where HD was in 2006. I would say that HD fully blossomed by 2009/2010. Streaming HD soon followed....I believe it was approximately 2008 when Netflix introduced their streaming service and it took about 1-2 years to catch on. Vudu is a streaming HD PPV model and they ended up being acquired by Walmart in 2010.
All that to say that 4K is following a similar trend. The first step is getting UHD TV's into the consumer's home and then the growth of UHD sectors will happen organically.
I've posted this before, but I'll say it again....
One-Third of US Households Will Have 4K TVs in 2019, IHS Says

One third is 33%. I would estimate that UHD will be in 70-80% of US Households by 2022-2023. Seems like it's a long time from now, but it's not.
I believe I read somewhere that 80% of households have HD as of 2015.
Anyhow, I believe that UHD is where HD was in 2006. We have some very fun days ahead.....
