The D.I.'s did take us out behind our barracks which faced the swamp and gave us the 'speech'.
If we chose to escape through the swamp, alligators and cotton mouths would surely end our attempt.
If we some how made it to the outside road, that distinctive green utility uniform with USMC on it would assure capture.
