I actually enjoyed that portion of Dr. Foley's responses to my inquiries. I completely agree: it is much more reassuring that a CEO is being paid mostly in shares rather than having to sell shares into the stock market to meet his salary.
I have two problems with it though.
1) That information was stated in a shareholder letter. So, it can be assumed that it is more or less useless based upon the past history. It doesn't mean it is FALSE but it also doesn't mean it is TRUE. Many statements have been made in shareholder letters that have been either proven to be (in my opinion) fabrications either to sell shares into the market, were not done in the time span allotted, or were eventually discarded due to lack of organization and time.
2) Since the above statement cannot be proven true, at least by me or anyone else for that matter, what is the best way to SHOW shareholders that officers within the company have 'skin in the game'? To issue a FORM 4 and buy shares on the open market. The market cap is a measly $3 million. If such great things are going to be occurring in the future, why wouldn't you buy shares, especially since officers are more privy to the actual comings and goings of their company? It doesn't have to be a million shares but certainly SOMETHING would be more reassuring than nothing.
As far as to WHY officers will not buy open shares on the market, I have my own suspicions. I won't share them here.
