Parylene, a trade name for a variety of vapor deposited polymers, is an excellent coating material that provides superior barrier properties.  Parylene can be UV stable, biocompatible, and sterilized for medical applications.  Conformal coatings have been used to protect electronics for over 35 years and has become a billion dollar market.  This presentation highlights 25 MEMS and sensor applications which can be protected with parylene conformal coatings.

If you remember when we were all pumped up about Nitto at first this was a hot topic. I wonder just where we stand or even if we are in line with Nitto. It would be nice to have some updates as to what the heck is going on and not just a bunch of general info that never eludes to sales or revenue. You really can not blame people that have been around forever for wondering just WTF is up....or going down!

Partnerships are great but just when does the money start to flow. I would hate to be an employee that gets paid in stock at this point unless there is a buy out like the one below....

MEMS manufacturing: Materion acquires Heraeus Target Materials for $30 million

Materion Corporation  announced this week that it has completed the previously announced acquisition of the target materials business of the Heraeus Group, of Hanau, Germany, for approximately $30 million.  The acquisition strengthens Materion's position in precious and non-precious target materials for MEMS, photovoltaic, display and semiconductor markets.  The business, now operating within the Materion Advanced Materials business segment in Buffalo, New York is expected to generate approximately $50 to $60 million in new value-added sales on an annualized basis and be accretive to 2017 earnings.  Materion Advanced Materials reported value-added sales of $176.3 million in 2016.
