Absolutely makes perfect sense. Cutting down the ridiculous numbers of false quotes posted by bashers/shorters is one of the very best ways to keep information on the board factual.

The bashers wish is to plant a seed, whereas those who read their false quote will assume it to be true without verifying it on their own. They hope it will start a string shooting off from their BS causing confusion and distraction, along with the pissing matches they'll create (everybody loves those, don't they? lol) as time is robbed from legitimate info exchange.
