I Started a Joke, for real. This Bee Gee's song sums it up well, must have been written by someone who has been there, done that.
This is the first year in 35 years I did not think about the day I quit drinking on that date, missed it by 4 days. Alcohol promised me much and did the opposite, promised me fun and got in trouble, promised me to be more sociable, and became obnoxious, etc. A part of my ego had to die before i could quit, reaching out for help was a touch battle. If it had not been for the decision to try AA I probably would be dead due to health reasons or a car accident. Or I would be in prison for killing somebody with my car.
I am not bothered at all by others who drink. Most do it more responsibly than I did.
