Using a foam placebo actually IS necessary, because what if the formulation of the foam itself had an effect (rather than the drug it's carrying)? But a foam, um, "insertion" would be MUCH less traumatic than 6 weeks of daily retention enemas. Ugh.
It makes you understand how horrible this disease must be, for people to be willing to try that, and then say afterward they're happy they did it.
