Lynda Chin , M.D., a physician and one of only four current M.D. Anderson faculty members elected to the prestigious Institute of Medicine , was recruited to join the M.D. Anderson faculty as professor and chair of Genomic Medicine and scientific director of the Institute for Applied Cancer Science . The institute has its roots deeply connected to genetics as they relate to the safety and efficacy of various forms of treatment. Chin also had an outstanding reputation as an innovator and entrepreneur who had helped to create companies to provide these developments for the benefit of patients.
