There are several ways, but not letting the pps run away is the best. If it runs way up prematurely, it only benefits those aggressively flipping the stock unless support moves up with the price. If not, the volatility increases and it gets out of control as the feeding frenzy heats up.
If you think you have a hump fest going on now, just watch what happens if you have a repeat of spring 2015 only on a larger scale. The runaway movement isn't limited to the upside. Oh hell no, it'll just as easily get shorted well below where support rests now once the whole damn corn-holing flip happy school of piranhas settles in. Good for traders who understand what's happening, but for some it could cause panic selling (suits the shaft-shovers just fine) and they'd lose way more than they ever should've.
The company doesn't want to see that happen and won't benefit from it. They'd rather see stability with strong support levels established, and happy shareholders. They've already made it clear to me and others that consideration of the interests of early investors is important to them.
