SM Energy (SM +2.3%) is higher after disclosing that it has amended the proposed closing date for the $800M sale of its remaining membership interests to Venado to March 15.
In agreeing to the extension, Venado avoids a potential $120M damage payment to SM in the event the deal failed to close by its original March 31 closing date.
