Very true. That's why the default in/out order (Etrade anyhow) for blocks or "lots" is first in, first out. This way you'll automatically be paying the lowest possible capital gains on sales, assuming you've held any lots for a year or more. You can adjust it for pushing capital loss sales to the front if you need to. There may be other reasons to adjust the order, but I'm no tax guy either! lol
